Comparison

Zurge vs Nike Run Club

Nike Run Club is a free running app with six training plans and hundreds of audio guided runs. It doesn't log lifts: Nike's strength workouts live in a separate app, Nike Training Club. If you lift as well as run, Zurge plans both in one week and tracks your lifting properly.

Why hybrid athletes pick Zurge over Nike Run Club

Lifting gets a plan too

Nike Run Club tracks runs. Its 10K plan suggests optional strength workouts from Nike Training Club, a separate app. Zurge holds your lifting split and your runs in one week, so a heavy leg day doesn't land the day before your intervals or long run.

A real lifting log

Zurge logs every set with last time's numbers, supersets, warm-up and drop sets, RPE and plates per side. Your load goes up when you complete your sets, and PRs show up from 1 to 30 reps.

Paces from your own runs

Nike's plans set runs at relative paces, like 5K pace or 10K pace, and its plan guides use a pace chart from your best mile. Zurge gives each run a pace range and an effort, set from a recent race or hard run, and proposes new paces when your runs show you've got faster.

A plan that bends

Miss a session in Zurge and it fits into a later day without displacing your long run. Or ask the coach to move a run or swap a lift, and approve the change it proposes.

Where Nike Run Club is ahead

Nike Run Club is completely free, with about 300 audio guided runs, challenges with friends, and apps for Apple Watch, Wear OS, Garmin and COROS. Zurge has no watch app yet and no social features, and its coach needs Zolt Pro. If you only run and want a free app, Nike Run Club is excellent.
