Comparison

Zurge vs Runna and Hevy

Runna for running and Hevy for lifting is the setup most hybrid athletes land on, and both are good apps. The catch is that they don't talk: Runna's plan doesn't know about your squat day, and Hevy never sees your runs. Zurge puts your lifting and running in one week, for less than either subscription.

Why hybrid athletes pick Zurge over Runna and Hevy

Two apps, two plans, no overlap

Runna's help center says its strength sessions sit outside the adaptive running plan, and that it can't sync strength workouts from other apps. Hevy logs your lifts but has no running plans and only sends workouts out to Strava. So when you run both, you are the one making sure Monday's heavy squats don't wreck Tuesday's intervals.

Zurge plans the week as one

In Zurge you choose your lifting split and your running goal, and the week is built with both in view. Tempo and interval runs stay off heavy leg days and the day after, the long run keeps its day, and when you miss something it moves into a later day without pushing the long run aside.

The logger you're used to

If you like Hevy, Zurge's logger will feel familiar: last time's numbers on every set, supersets, warm-up, drop and failure sets, RPE, plates per side and a rest timer. Your load goes up when you complete your sets, without paying for a separate trainer tier.

Runs with paces, not just distance

Zurge's run plans go from 5K to marathon, with base building, intervals, threshold and long runs. Each run has a pace range and an effort, set from a recent race or hard run, and Zurge proposes new paces when your runs show you've got faster.

One subscription

Runna is $119.99 a year and Hevy Pro is $23.99, so the pair costs $143.98 a year in the US. In Zurge, plans and logging are free, and Zolt Pro at $39.99 a year adds the coach and also covers Zolt nutrition.

Where Runna and Hevy are ahead

Separately, each app is a specialist. Runna has more running plans, including ultra, heat-adjusted paces and workouts on Garmin, COROS, Suunto and Apple Watch. Hevy has a social feed, a web app and a Wear OS app. Zurge has no watch app or Garmin connection yet. If you run seriously and lift lightly, Runna on its own may be all you need.

Questions

Do Runna and Hevy sync with each other?

We found no integration between them (checked 2026-11-06). Runna's help center says it can't sync strength workouts from other apps, and Hevy only sends workouts to Strava, not the other way round. Each app plans without knowing what the other has scheduled.

Can Runna replace Hevy for lifting?

Not for most lifters. Runna adds pre-built strength sessions to your calendar, but you can't build your own workouts, and the sessions don't change the running plan. It suits runners who want light strength work, not people following their own split.

How much do Runna and Hevy cost together?

In the US, Runna is $119.99 a year and Hevy Pro is $23.99 a year, so $143.98 for both (checked 2026-11-06). Monthly, it's $19.99 plus $2.99.

Can I move my Hevy history to Zurge?

Zurge imports Strong CSV exports today. Hevy import is on the way.

Does Zurge work with Strava?

Yes. Connect Strava in Zurge and your runs upload there.

How much does Zurge cost?

Plans, workout and run logging, goals, PRs and history are free. Zolt Pro is $39.99 a year in the US and adds the coach chat, the Claude and ChatGPT connector, measurements and progress photos, plus Pro in the Zolt nutrition app.
